danger, that her life is on the line, but that is not true. Her only danger is the possibility of making a bad impression so that people will think poorly of her. That is vanity. When a preacher feels the same emotion and has the same symptoms, he is afraid of what people will think of him, or of his poorly prepared sermon. In his situation fear is not the appropriate response—repentance is. His brain is feeding him wrong information. Consider a man who has a fear of heights. His brain tells him
